Wanderlust: Part One, National Parks

After months of staying inside and missing out on nature, it's time to see new places, and get away the right way. The real question is, where? I am no expert, but I would say, there are more than enough surprisingly beautiful places in America that are worth a visit. Some of those places I am going to zero in on today are our National Parks. There's the obvious (and very good) choices like Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and "The Arches." Utah and St. Louis, quite frankly, each have an amazing arch or two to showcase. For now though, I will be highlighting some of the places you may have never even heard of but might recognize. We will get a peek at the Canyonlands National Park, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park, and White Sands National Park.

Wanderlust; (n.) a strong desire for or impulse to travel and explore the world

Canyonlands, Utah

Canyonlands welcomes you to seek and traverse a wilderness of endless canyons and offers outstandingly stunning buttes formed by the Colorado River. The park is divided into, Island in the Sky, The Needles, The Maze, and the of course, the rivers which split each section. Each district provides its own unique and beautiful opportunity to explore and find adventure.

Science Rules: How are Canyons formed?

Through the movement of rivers, the process of weathering and erosion, and other natural activity, canyons are formed. Similarly, buttes (a butte is an isolated hill with steep, often vertical sides and a small, relatively flat top) are formed by the process of weathering and erosion as well, or the results of years of wear and tear from water, snow, wind, and other natural forms of weather.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon, California

The Sequoia and Kings Canyon National park and its collection of nature's significance has an array of lodging arrangements that can be enjoyed by any visitor. Whether there for backpacking, to take a relaxing family vacation, or just go on a drive, this national park will offer the views and the enjoyment you are looking for. This outlandish attest of nature’s beauty and magnitude of diverseness offers remarkable canyons, extensive caverns, wavy foothills, magnificent mountains, and the world’s most colossal trees.

White Sands National Park

Found in the core of the Tularosa Basin is one of nature's most extraordinary wonders, New Mexico's great white sands. Grand rippling-dunes of gypsum sand (Gypsum is more or less a rare type of sand) that have submerged 275 square miles of desert. That makes the white sand dunes the largest gypsum dune field.
